1. Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (must be installed on the notebook before installing Audio and Modem drivers)
   
   After installing Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Drivers restart the notebook and install following drivers.


2. Conexant High Definition Audio Driver
   
   (Installing Audio drivers may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.)
   
   a. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
   
   b. Right click on “Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus” and click Update driver.
   
   c. Select “Install from a list or specific location”.
   
   
   d. Click Next. Then select “Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install”.
   
   e. Click Next and then select “Sound, video and game controller” from the list.
   
   f. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
   
   g. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp34200 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2a) file and click open and continue with the onscreen instructions.


3. Conexant HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP driver
   
   a. Right click on “Modem device on High Definition Audio Bus” and click Update driver.
   
   b. Select “Install from a list or specific location”.
   
   c. Click Next. Then select “Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install”.
   
   d. Click Next and then select “Modem” from the list.
   
   
   e. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
   
   f. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp33890 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2b) file and click open and continue with the onscreen instructions.

ubuntu 7.04 does not work for (c772TU) - problem starting X

Try the latest ubuntu. If X does not work in the first attempt, boot into X using the VGA option. If there are restricted drivers for this model, then enable them and restart in normal mode and try X. Do contact us if you have problems. Wifi also should work fine in Ubuntu.

Installation Instructions
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. A diskette containing the driver is created, and the driver files are also made available at c:\swsetup\sp36132. If you choose to cancel diskette creation, you will need to copy the driver files to the chosen media.

To use the diskette during a new operating system installation, complete the following steps (choose the procedure that matches the operating system you are running).

For Microsoft Windows XP:
NOTE: A USB diskette (floppy) drive is required to use this driver. If an external USB diskette drive is used, ensure that it is plugged into the system before starting Step 1.

1. Insert the operating system CD, and Power On the notebook to boot from the CD.
2. At the very beginning of the operating system installation, the following prompt is displayed at the bottom of the screen: "Press F6 if you need to install a SCSI or RAID driver...."When the prompt is displayed, press F6.
3. Later in the operating system installation, you are notified that a mass storage device could not be detected. When this notification occurs, press S (S=Specify Additional Device).
4. When prompted, insert the diskette that was created from the SoftPaq file, and then press Enter.
5. Select "Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)" and press Enter.
NOTE: At this point, the following prompt MAY be displayed, depending on the version of your operating system CD. If the prompt is displayed, press Enter to use the default Windows driver and continue, if it is not displayed, continue with next step 6. The prompt reads as follows: Windows already has a driver that you can use for "Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)". Unless the device manufacturer prefers that you use the driver on the floppy disk, you should use the driver in Windows. S=use the driver on floppy ENTER=use the default Windows driver
6. Continue with the operating system installation, as prompted.

A suggestion for installing video driver.
1) try to install nvidia driver that you have downloaded
If it says couldn't find hardware, quit the installation process. by default, nvidia will create a folder in c:\ drive called 'nvidia'
2) go to device manager
3) update video driver
4) No to windows update search
5) Install from a list of specific location
6) Don't search. I will choose the driver...
7) Have disk
8) Browse to c:\nvidia and select the only inf file to install
9) choose the video driver to install - GeForce 6200
10) restart

Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".

Ignore XP when it complains.

11 ways to enhance your notebook battery life longer

1. Do ‘Defragment’ Regularly.Defragmentation speeds up your Hard disks thus reducing some extra burden on your notebook batteries.
2. Dim your notebook display screen.You can turn down the brightness of your notebook’s display by using Function Keys[In most of the modern laptops].
3. Don’t run a ‘virus scan’ unnecessarily when you are running on battery,virus scan does add extra load on the CPU so as on the batteries.
4. Monitor your battery performance on a regular basis.
5. Clean your battery Contacts:It’s always suggested to take out your battery once in two or three months and clean the metal contacts with cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol.
6. Choose ‘Hibernate’ over ‘Standby’.Although Standby mode does save some power but it’s nowhere near when compared to ‘Hibernate’ mode,so opt for ‘Hibernate’ instead of ‘Standby’.
7. Turn off laptop display when you are away from it for shorter duration.You can make use of external software like m_off to do this for you.
8. Maintain Charging-Discharging balance.Once you completely charge your battery,allow it to discharge at least once in a week.
9. Turn off Bluetooth,IR & wireless radios when running on battery if you no longer need them.
10. Don’t attach USB devices[if you don’t really need them] attached to your notebook when running on battery.USB devices like iPod if kept attached to your notebook[for charging],are sure to drain your battery quickly.
11. Make wise use of the ‘Power Options’ available in the ‘Control Panel’ of your windows.

While installing windows xp on certain hp laptop you might see this screen appear and you can't continue.

it tells "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer" then this error happens because your computer has a storage controller that isn't supported natively in XP, usually a SATA controller.
